Healing within Martial Arts

Most Martial Artists practice techniques over and over again especially those who use kata or form incorporating breathing techniques. After a period of time all those techniques start to increase the energy flow around the body. Movement through the form will produce the Ki or Chi (internal energy).

The Chi helps the body fight off ill health and disease, improving the immune system. In some cases it may not be enough and the person may feel flat and would need recharging similar to that of a car battery which requires a source from outside of the bodywork.

It is possible to use ones own Chi for this purpose, but after a while that would leave the own body of the person exhausted and depleted. So the way to avoid this would be to tune into a larger source of Chi energy, which would avoid using ones own personal Chi energy. The Chi energy used is called Universal Chi which can be found all around the universal sources in the Trees, Plants, Sun, Stars and the whole universal cosmos.

Through certain breathing techniques, this stimulates mental focus and attunement. The combination of these sources produces the universal energy, which can be used to transmit to other individuals in order to help awaken their own internal energy systems. These techniques Martial Artist knows all that is needed is an open mind and the willingness to help other people.

The Healer tunes into the universal energy, which is passed through the hands into the person who requires healing providing them with life force healing energy into their body. This could be directed to a specific area e.g. a knee injury, or a back problem or healing could be sent to the whole body, mind, and spirit of that person.

To be able to channel such healing energy one must allow the flow of universal energy to be in touch with our being. The universal consciousness becomes awakened within the healer promoting vibrant health. In accordance to the principle of the universal sources. To be able to be a useful channel it is important to realise that you must be at one with the universe.

With Martial Arts the principle techniques are blocking, kicking gapping or throwing. These skills must not be continued to be thought about and concentrated on by the mental body, but just be able to flow naturally. This is the same with universal energy just tune into the source and allows the energy to flow without allowing any mental body thoughts, (thought patterns, or conditioning) to become influenced thus clouding ones energy flow.

One way you can learn about energy is to use a technique called the universal tree of life Meditation. This invokes bringing down the universal energy and circulating through the crown and around the whole body and down the legs into the Mother Earth. Then you bring the energy up from the ground up through the legs, around the whole of the body and up through the Crown. Raise your hands above the head and feel the energy flow down your arms, and through your fingertips. This exercise helps keep your energy at a high level and also assists towards self-Healing and increases your level of awareness.

To complete the circuit of energy flow you need to change positions and place yourself in Horse Stance (Kibadachi Stance).

1) Have your legs as wide apart as possible in Horse Stance, and slightly bend your legs keeping your feet parallel to each other.

2) Open knees outwards and lifts your hands above your head allowing the elbows to be bent with fingers pointing outwards slightly open.

3) First breath in (inhaling) filling the lungs with air, and pushing the diaphragm down (this expands the stomach). As you do this feel the energy flowing down the arm and into the fingers. You can do this a few times until you become aware of the energy flowing.

4) Breath out slowly (exhaling) and at the same time make a circle with your arms, bring them around the body and meeting at the solar plexus (stomach) with the fingers apart in line with each other to form a ball of energy.

5) Feel the energy collect at this point of the stomach and continue to breathe normally.

6) When ready take a breath in again as before and this time bring the energy up from the stomach using the hands, palm downwards pushing down the side of the legs, breathing out at the same time and bending the legs

7) Hold the stance with your palms facing the ground and draw up the energy from the earth and continue to breath normally.

8) When ready take a breath in again and move the hands to the centre of the stomach, breathing out at the same time.

9) Hold this position feeling the energy collect at this point and breath normally.

10) When you feel ready take a breath in and move your hands from your stomach to above your head with your fingers pointing upwards and breathing out at the same time.

The circuit is now complete by combining both types of energy and allowing it to flow together.

Begin by repeating this exercise three times in order to complete the session. Always finish the session by bringing the energy to the ground. If you feel light headed repeat the process of bringing the energy back down into Mother Earth.
